Paprika Recall in U.K.

Certain paprika sold in the U.K. apparently has a cancer-causing dye.

THOUSANDS of jars of paprika have been removed from supermarket shelves after a potentially cancer-causing dye, similar to Sudan I, was discovered in a batch of the spice.

Bart Spices has withdrawn all its ground paprika jars sold in the UK, after traces of the chemical dye Para Red sparked a major product recall.

Most of the major supermarkets and hundreds of smaller shops were told to take the spice off their shelves on Friday. Bart Spices has also recalled the paprika it sold under the Co-op supermarket label.
