My wife and I just received a new Maytag dishwasher for Christmas 2008, I had knew about he recall but never took the old one out and got use to doing the dishes by hand and so we never used it however, The washer was still wired into the house. So after we got this new one from our son he decided to hook up the new one last nite on Christmas Eve and after we pulled it out from under the counter we were surprised to see the Wirenuts were completely melted and bare wires were showing I had NEVER seen this happen in my life!
I just want to say if ANYONE has one of these still hooked up into the home or apartment wiring PLEASE HAVE THIS FIRE HAZARD REMOVED NOW!
Maytag is a good washer and the 75.00 they offer is okay but I'd be satisfied if they would just pick up the old one as well.

I pulled my Maytag dishwasher out from under the counter, because it was one of the recalls, and found a SCORCH MARK in the lino under the motor.
This is not a good thing and I am replacing the washer immediately. 2 kinds of fire source is too much to have around.
