XHTML And Accessibility
Standard complianceThe internet is about connecting individuals, businesses, governments and the key to its success has always been that it was developed on an open platform. Mobile devices and PDAs are now able to access the internet and regardless of whether you own an IBM compatible machine or a Macintosh computer, you are able to connect to the internet.

Windows Mobile 6
This consumer reporst on some updates toSpecifically, MS previously had two version of Windows Mobile called "Mobile Smartphone Edition" and "Mobile Phone Edition". To clarify, the latter is the most fully featured version and includes a touch screen and the ability to create and edit Office documents. The former is the smaller footprint version that is designed for streamlined PDAs and examples of this include the Q and the Blackjack.

Should Your Church Upgrade?
Consumers thinking about upgrading to VistaSecond, all of your peripheral hardware (printers, scanners, PDAs, digital cameras, etc…) requires special software called “drivers” in order to work well with Windows. Many vendors simply have not released updated drivers for their products to work well with Vista. This will improve over time as vendors release those drivers for their current products.

Light Keyboard
This consumer likes portable keyboards. Check his report on the Celluon laser projection keyboardIt uses bluetooth, and you can use it wired if you must. It works on many PDAs, mobile phones, and of course bluetooth enabled computers (hopefully it will work with the LifeDrive).

My Analysis on Palm vs. Microsoft
A report on the PDA market shifts from this avid PDA consumer.
Last week, one of the bigger news in the tech industry was that two archrivals, Palm and Microsoft has teamed up, and Palm would soon be licensing Windows Mobile for its future Treo Cell phones. Thus the end of the intense rivalry between these two companies which has been running for nearly 8 years. I have used more than 7 PDAs going back a few years, and feel qualified to tell you my version of this colorful story which I have closely followed?

Form Over Function
1) I am actually something of a Luddite. I hate technology for technologies sake. Detest cell phones, PDAs, etc.

Xeyes Or Cross-Eyed?
This consumer reports on Leadtek's Xeye, a portable personal video monitor.
It can be used to magnify images - stills or moving - from small screens, such as PDAs, giving you a large virtual screen in front of your eyes (the company claims 50" in its literature). It can connect to a portable TV tuner, a portable media player and so on and also be used to play games. Leadtek says it means you won't need to 'carry around a heavy video monitor'.

Review of Sharp Zaurus SL-C3000
This consumer reports on the Sharp ZaurusDesignTechnica has reviewed the Sharp Zaurus SL-C3000. There are a number of PDA fans that consider the Zaurus PDA as one of the most underrated PDAs out there. The Linux operating system is always cited as one of the many positives of this line of PDAs.

Challenges Of Interoperability
This consumer reports on work places that require Microsoft Outlook.
I dislike having to use proprietary solutions that don't work with my existing equipment. When I last worked for another company, they used Microsoft Outlook and Exchange and were pretty insistent that certain staff people publish their schedules openly so that others could know where they were and where there were schedule openings. But they did not buy PDAs for staff so we chose and purchased our own.

The LifeDrive Diaries, Part I: The aesthetics
This consumer reports on the new Palm LifeDrive PDA, including styling versus HP and other PDA devices.
Style-wise, the LifeDrive is one of palmOne’s simpler devices. No sexy curves and sharp corners, just all straight lines and rounded corners (the perfect match for my PowerBook, if I may add). The outer sheath is aluminum, as far as I can tell. There’s a huge palmOne logo embossed at the back, and the speaker grill takes up the rest of the back. It actually looks kinda boring, IMHO. I like the stylishness of the T3, for example, with its subtle curves and rounded corners.

Booted Off Of eBay For An IP Violation
This consumer reports on receiving and eBay warning after using manufacturer's intellectual property to describe an item he was selling. Strange:
Evidently my crime was copying the photo and specs for the DAC I was selling from Onkyo's Web site. Copying manufacturer info from their Web site to my eBay listing is something I have done in almost all of my many eBay listings and no one has ever complained. And I know that dozens of other people do the same.
Not only did eBay purge my listing, but they threaten to suspend my account If I "relist this or any other similar items on eBay"! What is a similar item? And why should that get me suspended? If I had the time and money I'd sick my own lawyer on eBay! I think Meg Whitman and eBay are getting way too big for their britches and plan to tell them so.

Recycling Cell Phones
It's a little after Earth Day, but this consumer reports on a Earth Day campaign to recycle cell phones and other electronics.
The Campaign's purpose is not only to raise awareness about the toxins in cell phones, pagers and PDAs but to divert these toxins from our landfills while reducing the need for open-pit mining which produces the gold, copper and other materials used in cell phone manufacturing. Because cell phones contain lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic they are to be classified as hazardous waste by the EPA.

Gavin Newsom's Matrix
This consumer reports on the latest in political accountability: the "Matrix":
The Matrix book itself is something new in U.S. politics: a constantly updated (via PDAs and pencils) database, possible only in this era, and probably manageable only by a mayor interested in weaving his knowledge of the dynamics of day-to-day politics with the data-weaving possibilities of the tech he also loves so well.

A Review of the Dell Axim x50
This consumer reports on the Dell Axim x50 PDA:
Click through for rest of review. One of the main selling points for me was the appearance. I know it’s not really that important, but if I’m going to be carrying something with me everywhere I go, it needs to be pleasing to the eye and not look like a big hunk of metal. The silver and black theme on the X50 makes it one of the more attractive PDAs on the market, in my opinion. It is heavier than my Clie(5.9 oz vs. 5.0oz.), but it also packs a lot more as far as performance so the extra weight doesn’t bother me.

Easy Recycling For Cell Phones and PDAs
The campaign, “Recycle My Cell Phone” aims to make recycling cell phones, PDAs, and pagers as easy as recycling bottles, paper, and cans! It’s simple, easy and free to recycle your cell phone. Just go to the website and print out a postage paid mailing label; put your old cell phones, PDA’s, beepers and chargers into a box, tape the label on it, and give to your mail carrier.

Reasons to Buy A Treo
The driving factor behind my wife’s purchase of the device was the large catalog of medical software available for Palms and the ubiquity of the devices in her hospital. She’s a medical student, and has seen the use of PDAs (mostly Palm) become pervasive enough for her to feel like she’s missing the boat if she doesn’t have one. She also wanted to be able to deal with her email and do some IM on breaks during her longer rotations.

Wireless Network Insights
This consumer reports on how wireless devices are changing consumer communications:
Portable devices completely dominate - 90% of the students on campus have laptops, and 98% of the incoming class of 2007 purchased wi-fi equipped laptops. Wi-fi PDAs are everywhere. Someone at dinner at the conference actually complained about the poor connectivity on his Blackberry and was wishing for wi-fi instead! One generation from now, you will hear the phrase, "Daddy, what’s a desktop computer?"» »
» Location based services emerge - Students here are already running calendar applications that alert them of their next appointment based on their current location and estimated travel time. People can walk up to a printer and hit "print," with the computer automatically routing the job to the physically closest printer. At UCSD, students with PDAs can see each other walking around campus, projected on real time maps and offer to get together, go eat, etc..»
